Centerpipes from PIPAMAS are ideal for use in radial flow systems where high volume flow with minimal pressure drop is desired. When used in a downflow system, the process flow moves through the outer basket, across the media and is collected in the center screen. In upflow systems the flow is reversed.

Our continuous slot design resists plugging to provide reliable media retention with less maintenance. Header laterals by PIPAMAS promote even distribution while also avoiding flow/pressure concentrations. Each header lateral consists of a series of screen laterals connected to a central header to provide uniform flow within a vessel containing treatment media. Header laterals can be used to either distribute inflow or collect flow, depending on their location within a vessel.

We build header laterals to your specifications for material (stainless steel options or alloys), wire and rod size, and open area to accommodate your media retention and flow-rate requirements. We also drill the proper size and number of holes for backwash systems.

In downflow processes, metallic contaminants known as scale can be a costly nuisance. With a tendency to quickly clog the surface of catalyst beds in reactor vessels, scale buildup hampers flow rates and shortens bed life. Scale traps from PIPAMAS prevent these issues by effectively increasing the surface area of the bed to diffuse the scale over a larger surface area. Positioning scale traps in an array in the upper part of the catalyst bed can increase the effective bed area by up to 400 percent, effectively trapping most contaminants and improving flow rates.

PIPAMAS scallops are an effective alternative to a single outer basket in many radial flow systems. Particularly useful in tall vessels, PIPAMAS scallops are precision welded to provide maximum strength and prevent buckling under even the heaviest load.

With a larger open area, PIPAMAS scallops offer a more consistent and efficient inlet flow for greater overall system performance. A narrow, continuous slot design and v-shaped wires make these scallops largely plug-resistant – significantly reducing maintenance costs. If plugging does occur, PIPAMAS scallops are incredibly easy to clean with a simple wire brush.

Outlet Baskets

PREVENT COSTLY MEDIA MIGRATION

In down flow processes, outlet baskets are used for direct media retention and to prevent expensive catalyst from migrating out of the vessel. In axial flow processes, inlet baskets are used at the top of the vessel to serve as a distributor where filtration is required from the inside to the outside.

PIPAMAS outlet baskets feature a smooth flat surface that reduces catalyst sanding. The continuous slot design resists plugging and provides a higher total open area than standard wire mesh and perforated plate. Slot widths are customized to provide superior process efficiency and retain specific media size, eliminating the need for transition layers of inert balls.
